The Spartans go on the road this week for two games beginning with a Tuesday night match-up at New Mexico inside The Pit. The two teams are tied for fourth place in the Mountain West standings at 3-2.
San José State enters the game with a 12-6 overall record and a 3-2 MW mark. The team defeated Fresno State, 74-64, last Tuesday night in the last game SJSU played. Alvaro Cardenas became the third Spartan this season to score 20 or more points as he had a career-best 20 points including 7-for-14 from the field and 6-of-11 from three-point range. He also dished out nine assists and had a steal. Omari Moore added 15 points and added eight assists.
TV BROADCAST - ALL-ACCESS: Tuesday night's game will be shown on FS1 with Brandon Gaudin and Casey Jacobsen on the call. This broadcast will be the first MW "All-Access" game shown on FS1. Both head coaches will wear microphones, and cameras will capture the action from the huddles. The broadcast will follow the coaches into the locker room for halftime and post game speeches.
ABOUT NEW MEXICO: The Lobos enter Tuesday night's game with a 16-2 overall record and a 3-2 MW mark, tied for fourth in the standings with SJSU and Utah State. New Mexico won at No. 23 San Diego State, 76-67, Saturday evening to hand the Aztecs their first MW loss of the season. The Lobos have an impressive 11-1 record at The Pit this season. Head coach Richard Pitino is in his second season at the helm of the program.
Series Record - 5-18. The two teams first met on December 21, 1961, in Albuquerque as the Lobos won 63-51. The teams played again in 1967 but did not play each other again until both were members of the WAC in 1997.
Last SJSU Win in Series - 71-55, February 20, 2022, San Jose
Omari Moore recorded the third triple-double in school history with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Spartans in the win. SJSU shot 74.1 percent from the field in the second half (20-27) including 6-for-10 from three-point range. Three other Spartans scored in double figures - Ibrahima Diallo with 14, Trey Anderson with 13 and Alvaro Cardenas with 10.

The Spartans only win in Albuquerque in 11 tries came during the 2016-17 season. Ryan Welage scored a team-high 20 points in the win in front of 12, 731 fans. Link to recap

CARDENAS REACHES 20-POINT PLATEAU IN WIN OVER FRESNO STATE: Alvaro Cardenas scored a career-best 20 points and dished out a career-high nine assists to lead the San José State to a 74-64 home win over Fresno State on January 10. Cardenas was 7-of-14 from the field including 6-of-11 from three-point range.
SJSU LOOKING FOR 4TH MW WIN: With three wins in the early part of the Mountain West season, the Spartans are looking for their fourth MW win since the 2016-17 season. San José State has not won more than three MW games since the team went 7-11 in 2016-17. The 2015-16 team finished 4-14 in the MW as the only other team to win more than three conference games since SJSU joined the MW in 2013-14.
CAREER RANKINGS: Omari Moore ranks among San José career leaders in three categories. He is in fifth place all-time in assists at 347, passing Marmet Williams during the Cal Poly game. Moore is sixth in blocked shots at 77, passing with Darnell Williams. Moore is eighth all-time in steals with 108 and needs one to tie with Chris McNealy in seventh place.
