SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State's Director of Athletics Jeff Konya has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Women's Gymnastics committee and his term began in September 2022 and will run through September 2026. Konya has previously served on NCAA committees for Division I women's basketball, Division I men's soccer and Division II women's tennis.
"It is always an honor to serve on NCAA committees and give back to the NCAA membership. I am thankful that I can represent San José State and the western region on the women's gymnastics committee," said Konya. "Our program continues to produce high-achieving results, including an NCAA Regional appearance last season, and this region has some of the most talented gymnasts in the country."
As a member of the NCAA Women's Gymnastics committee, Konya will assist with selecting and seeding teams for the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Championships, and continue to advance the sport of women's gymnastics in collegiate athletics.
Konya is in the midst of his second year as the Director of Athletics at SJSU. The Spartans are coming off one of their most successful competitive runs during the fall with women's soccer capturing the Mountain West regular season and tournament championships for the first time in the same season, while men's soccer and women's volleyball made runs to the conference title games. The football team qualified for a bowl game for the second time in three years, only the second time that has occurred in program history and first since 1986-87, and the men's basketball team is off to its best start in over a decade.
