Omari Moore Becomes 16th Spartan to Score 1,000 Career Points

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—Omari Moore scored 24 points, exactly what he needed to become the 16th player in school history to score 1,000 points at San José State as the Spartans fell at New Mexico, 77-57, Tuesday inside The Pit.

  • Moore scored his 1,000th career point from the free throw line late in the second half to join the elite list of 16 Spartans. He reached 1,000 points in 101 career games played and needs 49 points to tie Carroll Williams (1953-55) for 15th place.
  • Moore led all scorers with his 24 points as he was 9-for-23 from the field and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.
  • Moore recorded his 10th 20+-point game of his career and his sixth this season.
  • Alvaro Cardenas and Ibrahima Diallo each scored eight points for SJSU.
  • Cardenas dished out six assists, while Moore added five assists.
  • Robert Vaihola grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the team, his third double-figure rebound game this season.
  • The Spartans turned the ball over a season-low four times and grabbed a season-high seven steals.
  • The biggest difference came at the free throw line where San José State made just 9-of-13, while the Lobos were 20-of-26 from the charity stripe.

UP NEXT—The Spartans continue on the road this Saturday with a game at Utah State. Tip time is set for 4 p.m. MT/3 p.m. PT.
