SAN JOSE, Calif. – San José State women's basketball continues Mountain West conference play with a showdown on Saturday afternoon against Utah State. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Provident Credit Union Event Center.

  • The Spartans are coming off a 77-70 loss to Air Force on Monday night. Outside of a four-minute stretch that spanned the final two minutes of the first half and the first two minutes of the second half, the Spartans outscored Air Force 70-62.
  • The Spartans were 5-10 on 3-point attempts against the Falcons.
  • Over the last four games, the Spartans have shot 45 percent from three-point range, converting on 21 of 47 attempts. In conference play this season, the Spartans have shot 40 percent from beyond the arc which is the second-best percentage in the Mountain West.
  • Sabrina Ma led the Spartans in scoring against Air Force with a career-high 22 points. The freshman guard has scored 10 or more points in four of the seven conference games this season and is 23rd in conference scoring, averaging 9.9 points per Mountain West conference game.
  • The Spartans have excelled with their aggressive defense and ball pressure this season as they rank third in the Mountain West in steals (9.4 steals per game).
    • Jada Holland ranks first in the conference in steals at 2.4 per game and Jasmine Singleton ranks second at 2.2 per game.
  • Holland has registered at least one steal in 16 straight games.
  • Singleton has registered at least one steal in 10 straight games.

VS. UTAH STATE

  • The Utah State Aggies were defeated in their most recent game, a 66-59 loss to Air Force on Thursday night.
  • In the game before the Air Force contest, the Aggies picked up their first and only win of conference play this season by downing Fresno State, 68-58.
  • The Aggies have struggled defensively this season, giving up a conference-worst 74.2 points against per game.
  • The Aggies have the worst field goal percentage in the conference at 34.4 percent.
  • The Spartans have a 14-19 all-time record against the Aggies. 
  • In the 2021-22 season, Utah State beat SJSU by only two points, 63-61.
