ALBUQUERQUE, N. M. — Gabby Spencer, Emilia Sjostrand and Jeremiah Walker will lead SJSU Track and Field in the Indoor Open at the University of New Mexico after all three have received Mountain West weekly award honors two weeks into the season. Spencer won Women's Track Athlete of the Week while Walker won the Men's Freshman of the Week for their efforts at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational in Annapolis, Md. last week. Sjostrand won Women's Field Athlete of the Week the week previous.

Gabby Spencer, Jr.

  • Bounced back and won first place in the Women's 200m Dash with a time of 24.35 seconds last week after a lackluster fifth place showing at the Spokane Indoor Invitational to open the season
  • Named Mountain West All-Conference for 200m Dash in 2022
  • Named to All-Mountain West in 2022
  • Participating in the 200m and 4x400m relay this week in Albuquerque

Jeremiah Walker, Fr.

  • Earned Men's Freshman of the Week in back-to-back weeks at the Spokane Indoor Invitational and Wesley A. Brown Invitational respectively
  • Won the awards with a 21.49 mark in Spokane and a 21.42 mark in Annapolis along with solid performances and a race win in the 4x400 relay
  • Won his first ever collegiate race in Spokane and came in second place last week in Annapolis
  • Participating in the 200m, 400m, and 4x400m relay this week in Albuquerque

Emilia Sjostrand, So.

  • Event wins in back-to-back wins, taking first place in the Triple Jump at the Spokane Indoor Invitational and in the Long Jump at the Wesley A. Brown Invitational
  • Won Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week after winning the Women's Triple Jump at the Spokane Indoor Invitational with a mark of 12.66m (41'53")
  • Will be entering into the Triple Jump again this weekend
