SJSU Alum Andre Chachere Heads to Super Bowl LVII

PHILADELPHIA - San José State football alum Andre Chachere is heading to Super Bowl LVII following the Philadelphia Eagles win over the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game on Sunday. The Fresno, Calif. native has played in seven games for the Eagles this season and 23 overall over the last two seasons.

Chachere is the first Spartan to be on a Super Bowl bound team since Jeremiah Kolone last season with the Los Angeles Rams who ended up winning the Super Bowl.

The four-year defensive back played for the Spartans from 2014 to 2017 and ended his SJSU career with six interceptions, 3.5 tackles for loss, one sack and 70 tackles in 24 games.

SJSU defensive line coach Joe Seumalo's son, Isaac, is also going to the Super Bowl with the Eagles.

2017:

  • Started in 11 of the 13 games he played
  • Personal single-season bests of 39 solo and 46 overall tackles
  • Season-high seven tackles in the San Diego State contest (11/7)
  • Only interception of the season came vs. Utah State (9/23)

2016: 

  • First-team All-Mountain West
  • Starter in 11 of the 12 games he played
  • Finished fourth nationally in passes defended at 1.5 per game
  • Team leader with four interceptions and 14 pass break-ups
  • Tied for 34th nationally with his four interceptions.
  • Two interceptions vs. Portland State and one each vs. Nevada (10/15) and Air Force (11/19)
  • One of three players to share the team lead with two forced fumbles
  • 36 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss
  • Named the team's Most Valuable Player

2015: 

  • Played in 13 games and was a starter in 10 contests
  • Led the team with eight pass breakups
  • Came up with interceptions in two of the team's final three games

2014: 

  • Played in 11 of 12 games
