The Spartans are one of 16 teams participating in the tournament – Arizona, Baylor, Florida, Georgetown, Illinois, Kentucky, Oregon, Pepperdine, San José State, SMU, Southern California, Stanford, Texas, UCLA, Washington and host Ohio State.
The Spartans claimed the team and individual titles in 1996 with Vibeke Stensrud winning the individual crown.
This season, the San José State women's golf program is participating in the Fold of Honor Military Tribute Program. The Spartans will carry a golf bag in honor of 2nd Lt Travis A. Morgado who was from San Jose. His life was cut short during active duty in Zharay, Afghanistan, from injuries sustained when insurgents attacked his patrol with an improvised explosive device (May 23, 2012). He also has connections to San José State as his maternal grandparents and an aunt are Spartan alumni.
Antonia Malate has the honor of carrying this special bag in honor of 2nd Lt. Travis Morgado.
