Spartans Hit The Jackpot In 75-66 Win at UNLV

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—Trey Anderson matched his season-high with 19 points, and Omari Moore continued his climb up the San José State career scoring list as the Spartan men's basketball team swept the season series from UNLV with a 75-66 win on Valentine's Day inside the Thomas and Mack Center.

  • Anderson, who last scored 19 points in the win over Oakland in the Bahamas, was 6-for-9 from the field including 5-for-7 from three point range. He also had five rebounds, a block and an assist.
  • Moore moved up two spots in the San José State career scoring list as he ended the night in ninth place with 1,145 career points. He passed Johnnie Skinner (1,131 points) and Terry Cannon (1,139 points) in the second half.
  • Moore finished the night with 14 points, four rebounds and five assists. He was held scoreless in the first half as he was 0-for-8 from the field to start the game before going 4-for-7 from the field in the second half.
  • Despite Moore not scoring from the field in the first half, the Spartans had a 40-36 lead at halftime as the rest of the team was 17-of-25 from the field.
  • The win gives San José State (16-10, 7-6) the season series sweep over UNLV for just the third time in school history, 1994 and 2017.
  • Tibet Görener came off the bench to add 11 points and six rebounds.
  • Ibrahima Diallo led the Spartans with eight rebounds and scored eight points including the team's first six points of the game.
  • San José State outrebounded the Runnin' Rebels 41-29, with every Spartan who played recording at least two rebounds during the game.
  • The 16th win of the season is the most for the Spartans since 2010-11 when the team finished 17-16 overall.
  • The seventh Mountain West win ties the 2016-17 season for the most MW wins in a season since SJSU joined the conference in 2013-14.
  • The Spartans have not won more than seven conference games since 1995-96 when the team went 9-9 in the Big West, won the Big West Tournament and played in the NCAA Tournament.
