Three Spartans Finish Top-20 At The Therese Hession Regional Challenge

PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif.—Three Spartans finished in the top-20 including Lucia Lopez Ortega who tied for fifth place as the San José State women's golf placed fifth at the Therese Hession Regional Challenge at the par-71 Palos Verdes Golf Club.

  • The Spartans shot a 296 in the final round to end the tournament at 16-over, 868. Oregon won the team title at 6-over, 858.
  • Lopez Ortega shot a 75 in the final round to end the tournament with an even-par 213. She ended the tournament with 13 birdies made.
  • Antonia Malate shot the team's low round of the day with a one-over 72 and finished tied for 12th at two-over 215.
  • Kajsa Arwefjäll tied for 20th at five-over 218 after shooting a 75 in the final round.
  • Louisa Carlbom shot a three-over 74 and tied for 55th at 226, while Rebecca Gyllner shot a 76 to end the tournament tied for 61st at 229.

 
UP NEXT – The Spartans host Stanford in the Battle of the Bay next Tuesday, February 21, at CordeValle in San Martin.
