ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The San José State Spartans (3-22, 1-13 MW) close out a two-game road trip on Saturday afternoon against New Mexico (16-11, 8-6 MW) in the first matchup of the season between the two teams.
- The Spartans are coming off a 77-60 loss against the Mountain West Regular Season Champions UNLV on Thursday night
- Nailea Nichols recorded her first double-double with career highs in both points (15) and rebounds (13)
- Amhyia Moreland followed Nichols with 10 points along with five rebounds
- Jada Holland continued her streak of games with at least one steal, swiping the ball three times against the Lady Rebels
- The Spartans were able to outscore UNLV in the third quarter 25-23
VS NEW MEXICO
- This is the first and only regular-season meeting between the two teams this year
- The Lobos lead the all-time series 14-4
- New Mexico is second in scoring during league play, averaging 73.1 points per game
- The Lobos are third during league play from behind the arc (34.4%) while also being one of the best in the league defending against the 3, allowing opponents to shoot just 29.5 percent from behind the arc
- The Spartans continue to be one of the best during Mountain West play in steals, averaging 8.9 per game, which is second in the conference
- SJSU is third during league play in offensive rebounds, averaging 10.7 per game, while the Lobos are giving up the third most rebounds during conference play (36.4)
