MORAGA, Calif. – Jenessa Ullegue struck out nine while only letting up one hit, plus Alyssa Graham hit a home run and had three RBIs to lead San José State (2-7) in a 5-0 win at Saint Mary's (4-5) Sunday afternoon to conclude the Saint Mary's Invitational.
Saint Mary's lone hit happened with the first batter to start the seventh inning.
- It was Ullegue's second career 7.0 IP one-hitter and she only walked one on the night
- It was the ninth time in Ullegue's career she's thrown 7.0 IP of shutout ball
- Graham went 2-for-4 and also scored a run
- Graham finished the weekend with three home runs, nine RBIs, seven hits, four runs scored and hit .438 over the four games
- Ahmiya Noriega had her first three hit game of her career and went 3-for-4 with an RBI and run scored
- Ashley Rico went 1-for-3 with an RBI double
- Jessica Giacoma went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in only her second game of the season
- Karizma Bergesen scored a run and also had a hit
- It was the first shutout win of the season for the Spartans and first road win as well
- The game started over an hour and a half late due to the two games before the Spartans going long.
UP NEXT: The Spartans host the SVC Classic I from Spartan Softball Stadium going from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26 with Saint Mary's, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State and UCSB.
