SAN JOSE, Calif.–San José State baseball returns to action on Thursday with a four-game set against Washington at Excite Ballpark. On Thursday and Friday, admission is free while tickets to the games on Saturday and Sunday can be purchased here or at the stadium. Sunday's game will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.

  • The Spartans are coming off a game against Cal Poly on Monday afternoon. The game was postponed after the eighth inning due to darkness with the Spartans trailing, 11-10. The two teams will play the ninth inning on Tuesday, April 18 in San Luis Obispo, Calif. immediately before their scheduled second meeting of the season.
  • Prior to Monday's affair with Cal Poly, the Spartans took two out of three games at Loyola Marymount on the weekend. RHP Jonathan Clark, LHP Micky Thompson and RHP Aaron Eden all pitched five innings as the respective starters in the three games.
  • Over the three games, Hunter Dorraugh led the Spartans by going 8-for-13 at the plate with three doubles and a home run. In recognition of his performance, Dorraugh was named the Mountain West Player of the Week.
  • Jack White had the most impressive performance out of the bullpen. On Friday, the transfer from the University of Michigan pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, struck out three batters and allowed only one hit.
  • As a team, the Spartans lead the Mountain West this season in opposing batting average, limiting opponents to an average of .220.

VS. WASHINGTON

  • The Washington Huskies opened the 2023 season by winning two out of four games at Santa Clara.
  • Against the Spartans, the Huskies have a 7-3 all-time series record.
  • The most recent matchup between the two schools was on March 7, 2014. Washington won the game, 7-0.
  • The two schools have never faced each other in a three or four game series.
