SJSU Finishes Day One of MW Indoor Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—
Osayi Omorodion and Lina Schubert led San José State on the first day of competition at the Mountain West Indoor Championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

  • Omorodion started the day off by submitting an event-winning time of 8.50 in the Pentathlon's 60m Hurdles, tying the third-best mark in school history
  • Schubert finished sixth overall in the Pentathlon after a solid all-around performance that saw her finish third in the High Jump with a mark of 1.70m (5'7") and included three more top ten event finishes in the competition
  • Omorodion would finish in fourth in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.63m (18'5.75") to become SJSU's second-highest finisher in eleventh place overall
  • Omorodion was also the Spartans' best shot putter with a mark of 9.27m (30'5")
  • The Men's Distance Medley Relay team finished its race with a time of 10:59.67
  • SJSU's Women's team is currently in eighth place while the Men's side is in seventh place in the overall team championship competition
