HIGHLIGHTS | EVENT RESULTS
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— Emilia Sjostrand placed eleventh in the Women's Long Jump on Day One of the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday. This was the first NCAA Championship event in which a woman competed representing San José State.
- Sjostrand entered the competition ranked No. 10 in the nation with a season and career-high mark of 6.48m (21'3.25")
- She recorded a mark of 6.27m (20'7") on her second jump, good for the third-best mark in school history. Sjostrand now owns the first, second and third best jumps in the indoor record book
- Sjostrand's only other jump measured at 6.21m (20'4.5")
- This was the sophomore's first ever NCAA Indoor Championship event. Her performance ends her long jumping season as eleventh-best in the nation and earns her a second-team All-American selection
- The Long Jump is considered Sjostrand's "secondary event," she will compete in her main event tomorrow which is the Women's Triple Jump
UP NEXT: Sjostrand will make a run at the NCAA Women's Triple Jump title in Day Two on Saturday. She is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation in the Triple Jump with a mark of 13.71m (44'11.75")
