The San José State women's gymnastics team heads to Cedar City, Utah, Friday night for a tri-meet with Southern Utah and Iowa.

  • This will be the third time in eight days that the Spartans have faced the Thunderbirds, and the first time this season they will take on Iowa.
  • Last weekend, the Spartans won both of their meets including a quad meet at Sacramento State and a home meet against Southern Utah where they recognized five Spartan seniors in the Provident Credit Union Event Center – Ariana CastrenceCameron KelperisJada MazuryEmma Milne and Alexa Solomon.
  • In the quad meet, Lauren Macpherson tied a school record on beam and nearly tied the school record in the all-around as the team won the Sacramento State Quad meet with a 196.600, scoring a 49.000 or better on all four events inside The Nest.
  • The 196.600 is the second-best team score in school history, just behind the 196.625 the program has recorded twice.
  • In their home meet against Southern Utah on Sunday, San José State scored a 196.175
  • Cameron Kelperis capped off her final home meet with a career-best 9.925 to win floor
  • Three other Spartans won event titles on the day, starting with Jaudai Lopes on vault with a 9.925, Katherine Weyhmiller tied for first on bars with a career best 9.900 and Macpherson tied for first on beam at 9.900, and won the all-around with a 39.375.
  • SJSU is currently ranked 32nd nationally as a team and 26th on beam.
  • The Spartans have been rewarded for their performances this season by the MPSF. This week, Lauren Macpherson was again named the Gymnast of the Week after winning the all-around title at both meets the previous weekend.
