ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—
Emilia Sjostrand set a new school record on her way to become the first All-American woman in San José State Track & Field history as well as finish her indoor season seventh in the nation in the Women's Triple Jump at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

  • Sjostrand set a school record on her first official jump of the day with a mark of 13.93m (45'8.5"). Not 20 minutes later, she broke her own record by submitting a 13.98m (45'10.5") jump
  • Her mark of 13.98m (45'10.5") is also good for the second-best Triple Jump in her home country of Sweden
  • Four of Sjostrand's five jumps would have broken the former SJSU Women's Triple Jump record of 13.71m (44'11.75"), with the sophomore also submitting 13.77m (45'2.25") and 13.87m (45'6.25") marks. Sjostrand's last jump of the event tied her own previous school record that she set at the Mountain West Indoor Championships two weeks ago
  • The sophomore also finished eleventh in the Women's Long Jump event held on Day One of the NCAA Indoor Championships
  • Sjostrand has become both the first woman in SJSU Track & Field history to qualify for an NCAA Indoor Championship and be named an All-American in a matter of two weeks

UP NEXT: Emilia Sjostrand will rejoin her Spartan teammates and start her own outdoor season off at Stanford's Cardinal Classic on March 18th.
