BANDON, Ore. – Zubair Firdaus led the San José State men's golf team with a 73 (+1) in the opening round of the Bandon Dunes Championship on Sunday, with the Spartans sitting in sixth place alone after a team score of 3 (+16).
- Firdaus' 73 puts him in a tie for fifth place, three strokes back of the leader
- Firdaus made four birdies in his opening round
- Caleb Shetler, Carl Corpus and Kotaro Murata each shot a 77 (+5) and sit in a tie for 36th place
- The Spartans lead the field in overall par 3 scoring at -1 on the day and a stroke average of 2.95
- The Spartans are second in total birdies made with 15
