SAN JOSE, Calif.—The historic 2022-23 San José State men's basketball season continues in the postseason as the program has accepted a bid to play at the Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational, March 18-22, at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Spartans enter the 16-team tournament as the second seed and face Southern Indiana Saturday afternoon in a first-round game at 12:30 p.m. PT. Fans can watch the game live on FloHoops.
The Screaming Eagles enter the weekend with a 16-16 overall record and were 9-9 in the Ohio Valley Conference. Head coach Stan Gouard is in his third season at the school. Forward Jacob Polakovich was a first team All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree as he has 391 rebounds and averages 13.0 per game. Guard Isaiah Swope was also a first team All-OVC selection and leads the team in scoring at 15.6 points per game.
This marks the second time San José State has participated in the CBI. The Spartans played in the 2011 CBI as the team lost at Creighton, 85-74. It is just the sixth postseason appearance for the Spartans in school history.

The 2023 Discount Tire CBI will be a single-elimination, fully-bracketed men's basketball postseason tournament featuring 16 teams from across the country competing for a championship in Florida. The Semifinals and Championship game will be broadcast on ESPN2, with Quarterfinal rounds broadcast on FloHoops.
This is the first time in school history that a San José State men's basketball team made a postseason appearance and the Spartan football team played in a bowl game in the same school year.

- The Spartans had Quad 1 wins over three NCAA Tournament teams – Utah State (69-64), Boise State (74-68, OT), and Nevada (81-77, OT).
- San José State finished the home portion of the schedule with a 12-3 record, the most home wins since 1998-99 when the team won 11 times.
- Moore is now the fifth all-time leading scorer in San José State history with 1,280 points.
- He is the 16th Spartan in school history to score 1,000 points.
- His 576 points on the season is the fifth-highest season total in school history.
- Ibrahima Diallo is one of the nation's top shot blockers with 57, ranking 37th nationally in total blocks and 54th in blocks per game.
