SJSU's Hamchuk Named MW Player of the Week


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Robert Hamchuk of the San José State baseball team has been named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week after impressive performances in wins over San Diego State and San Francisco and a loss to Central Michigan.

  • Hamchuk hit for an average of .500 over the three games, going 8-for-16 at the plate.
  • The Spartans' left fielder registered three doubles, one home run and drove in five RBIs.
  • In all three games, he recorded at least two hits.
  • Two of his doubles came in a 23-2 win over San Francisco on Tuesday.
  • He scored at least one run in all three games.
  • This is Hamchuk's second time being named the Mountain West Player of the Week. He previously earned the honor on May 9, 2022.
