BANDON, Ore. – Zubair Firdaus earned his first-career top-10 finish as the San José State men's golf team took fifth place out of 18 teams at the Bandon Dunes Championship on Tuesday with a second-round team score of 287 (-1).
- Firdaus birdied his final hole of the day to shoot a second-round 72 (E) and a total score of 145 (+1) to finish in a tie for eighth place
- Kristopher Stiles shot a 69 (-3) in his final round to finish in a tie for 16th place, his third straight top-20 finish
- Xuan Luo shot a second-round 70 (-2) in his first-career collegiate tournament
- This is the fifth under-par round for the Spartans this season
- The Spartans led the field in par-3 scoring, averaging 3.03 strokes on the short holes during the tournament
- Caleb Shetler was fifth in the field in par-3 scoring, shooting one-under-par for the tournament
- SJSU was fifth in total birdies with 30
UP NEXT: The Spartans will be back in Oregon on March 27-28 to compete in the Oregon Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club.
