For the first time since 2011, the San José State men's basketball program will play in the postseason as the Spartans are the No. 2 seed at the Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational March 18-22, at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. SJSU faces No. 15-seed Southern Indiana in a first-round game on Saturday. If the Spartans are victorious, they will have an off day on Sunday before facing the winner of Radford/Tarleton.
San José State enters the tournament with a 20-13 overall record and finished Mountain West play with a 10-8 record, good for fifth in the standings and behind four teams that are playing in the NCAA Tournament. The Spartans are making their second appearance at the Discount Tires CBI after playing in the tournament in 2011, falling at Creighton 85-74.
ABOUT NO. 15 SOUTHERN INDIANA: The Screaming Eagles enter the CBI with a 16-16 overall record and 9-9 mark in the Ohio Valley Conference. The team fellin the first round of the OVC to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, 68-54. Senior forard Jacob Polakovich is among the nation's leaders in rebounding with 391, 13.0 pg. Polakovich and Isaiah Swope earned first team All-OVC honors. Head coach Stan Gouard is in his third season at the helm of the program.

COACH MILES - FORMER PLAYERS COACHING IN THE CBI: Two former players of Spartan head coach Tim Miles are on coaching staffs at the Discount Tire CBI.
Aaron Fearne is the Associate Head Coach at Charlotte. He played for Coach Miles on his first two teams at Mayville State, 1995-96 and 1996-97.
Flynn Clayman is the Associate Head Coach at Southern Utah. He played two seasons for Coach Miles at Colorado State, 2007-08 and 2008-09, the first two years of Miles' tenure at CSU.

SJSU POSTSEASON HISTORY: This marks the second time San José State has participated in the CBI. The Spartans played in the 2011 CBI as the team lost at Creighton, 85-74. It is just the sixth postseason appearance for the Spartans in school history.

MOORE RECEIVES NABC FIRST TEAM ALL-DISTRICT 17 HONORS: Omari Moore added to his season honors with first team All-District 17 honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The honors were voted on by NABC-member coaches across NCAA Division I. Moore is the sixth Spartan to earn first team NABC All-District honors.
