SAN JOSE, Calif. - Reina Zermeno and Jessica Giacoma each had RBI singles while the Spartans stole a season-high six bases as San José State (11-15, 0-0 MW) beat Maine (5-16, 0-0 AE) 4-1 in their final game before conference play Thursday afternoon at Spartan Softball Stadium.
The Spartans have won three in a row and four of their last five overall. Maine had the bases loaded in the sixth and no outs, but the Spartans got out of the jam only surrendering one run thanks to Farrah Steffany with a crucial strikeout to end the inning.
- Steffany earned her second win of the season going 3.0 IP with two strikeouts and two hits.
- Alyssa Graham went 1-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
- Ahmiya Noriega stole two bases to lead the team with nine and scored a run while going 1-for-2.
- Adrianna Noriega stole one base and went 1-for-2 with a run scored.
- Zermeno finished the day 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored.
- Zermeno threw out her fourth runner of the season trying to steal.
- Giacoma went 1-for-2 with the RBI.
- Aubrie Thomas also stole a base for the Spartans.
- Ashley Legler threw 1.0 IP in the seventh inning to earn her first career save.
