SAN JOSE, Calif. - Robert Hamchuk went 7-for-11 across two games to lead the San José State baseball team (7-8, 4-2 Mountain West ) in a 5-4 win and a 9-5 loss to Air Force (8-13, 3-3 Mountain West ) on Saturday at Excite Ballpark. The Spartans won the first game in extra innings as Dalton Bowling delivered an RBI double to bring home Charles McAdoo in the bottom of the 11th inning.

GAME ONE

  • Left-handed pitcher Micky Thompson tossed 6.0 innings and allowed two earned runs on nine hits while striking out three.
  • Right-handed pitcher Keaton Chase earned his first win of the season. He pitched 3.0 scoreless innings of relief, giving up only one hit and striking out four.
  • Hamchuk went 4-for-6 with a double.
  • Hunter Dorraugh went 3-for-6 and also registered a double.
  • McAdoo had two hits, an RBI, a walk and led the Spartans with two runs.
  • Nathan Cadena had two doubles and was also hit by a pitch.
  • Theo Hardy picked up two hits.

GAME TWO

  • Right-handed pitcher Aaron Eden tossed 4.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out two.
  • Hamchuk led the Spartans offensively by going 3-for-5 with an RBI and also scoring a run.
  • Bowling had two hits, one of which was a 2RBI double.
  • Neil Jansen entered the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning and delivered a 2RBI single with two outs.
