Three Spartans Finish in Top 15 of MountainView Collegiate

TUCSON, Ariz.— Kajsa Arwefjäll finished tied for ninth, and Antonia Malate shot the low Spartan round of the day as the No. 6 San José State women's golf team finished in a tie for fourth with Houston at 19-under 845 at the MountainView Collegiate in Tucson. 

  • Arwefjäll finished the tournament at eight-under 208 to tie for ninth. She was four under for her final nine holes of the tournament.
  • Malate shot a 5-under 67 in the final round to tie for 12th at 5-under 211. She made six birdies on Sunday including four birdies and six pars over her final 10 holes.
  • Lucia Lopez Ortega also shot a 5-under 211 to also tie for 12 place. She shot a three-under 69 during the final round, also finishing her final nine holes at 3-under par.
  • Louisa Carlbom tied for 53rd at two-over 218, while Rebecca Gyllner finished at 6-over par, 222, and tied for 75th.
  • Iowa State shot a 29-under 259 to win the tournament at 60-under 804.

 
UP NEXT – The Spartans take a little time off for Spring Break and are right back on the course April 3-5 at the Silverado Showdown in Napa.
