SAN JOSE, Calif.— Emilia Sjostrand has been named MW Women's Field Athlete of the Week and Cameron Tarver has been named MW Men's Freshman of the Week after their efforts representing San José State at the Cardinal Classic at Stanford over the weekend.
- Sjostrand took first place in the Women's Triple Jump with a mark of 13.92m (45'8").
- The sophomore's mark also set the new school record for the Women's Triple Jump just one week after Sjostrand finished an All-American indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M.
- Tarver took first place in the Men's 200m Dash with a time of 20.77 seconds in his first action since winning a Mountain West indoor title in the Men's 200m Dash at the MW Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. earlier this year
- Tarver also currently holds the school record for the Indoor 200m Dash at 20.87 seconds, which he set at the MW Indoor Championships
- Both Tarver and Sjostrand were starting their outdoor season at the Cardinal Classic after their scheduled season opener, the Cal Opener, was cancelled due to rain on March 4
UP NEXT: Sjostrand and Tarver will join their teammates at the Aztec Invitational hosted at San Diego State from March 24-25.
