BOISE, Idaho – The San José State women's tennis team (6-6, 1-0 MW) started conference play off on the right foot with a 4-1 win over Utah State (5-6, 0-1 MW) thanks to a clutch tiebreak win in doubles by Irena Muradyan and Rozalina Youseva, followed by Muradyan clinching the win in three sets in singles.
- After falling 6-1 in the No. 1 doubles match, Jovana Babic and Lara Marco Mas were able to level it with a 6-4 win in the No. 3 match
- Muradyan and Youseva continued their strong run in doubles and moved to 5-1 in dual matches with a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreak win to earn the doubles point for the Spartans
- Carolina Millan earned her fifth dual-match singles with with a 6-4, 6-3 win in the No. 2 match to put the Spartans up 2-1
- That was followed by Youseva's 6-3, 6-2 win in the No. 4 match to put the Spartans within one of the win
- Muradyan stayed hot in singles, winning her team-high seventh single in dual matches 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 to seal the win for the Spartans
