Youseva Saves Multiple Match Points As Spartans Knock Off Broncos 4-3

BOISE, Idaho –
Rozalina Youseva saved four match points in her singles match and clinched the winning point for San José State (7-6, 2-0 MW) to knock off Boise State (8-5, 1-1 MW) 4-3 in a thriller that came down to the final singles match.

  • Youseva forced a winner-take-all third set in the No. 4 singles match with a tiebreak win in the second set to earn the winning point for the Spartans (4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-5)
  • After dropping the doubles point, Irena Muradyan was able to put the Spartans on the board with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles match
  • Carolina Millan followed in the No. 2 match with a 6-1, 6-1 win
  • Down 3-2, the Spartans were able to tie the match when Raquel Villan Pereira won the No. 5 match 6-3, 1-6, 6-4
  • Youseva and Muradyan stayed hot in doubles, winning their No. 2 match 6-4 to move to 6-1 in dual matches
  • Muradyan moved to 8-2 in singles, while Youseva moved to 7-2 in dual matches
  • The Spartans have won four straight road matches
  • The win puts SJSU at 2-0 in the Mountain West, with both wins coming on the road in an indoor court

UP NEXT: The Spartans return home for their final non-conference match of the season against Eastern Washington on Wednesday. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. start time.
