SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (15-17, 3-3 MW) heads to San Diego State (19-10, 3-3 MW) for a three-game conference series starting Friday at 5:00 p.m. from SDSU Softball Stadium in San Diego, Calif. on the Mountain West Network.
- Freshman Reina Zermeno hit .615 with a slugging percentage of 1.077 and had a home run, eight hits, five runs scored, four RBIs, three doubles, plus stole a pair of bases and had 10 putouts in four games last week.
- Zermeno has only struck out three times this season (77 at-bats) which is best in the Mountain West.
- Jenessa Ullegue pitched her second 7.0 IP one-hitter of the season vs. Nevada (3/18) while striking out 11 which earned her her first Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honors (3/21). Ullegue has twice gone to the seventh inning with a no hitter this season and has 24 strikeouts in her last two starts on the mound.
- It was Ullegue's third career 7.0 IP one-hitter and she only walked one on the night. It was also the 10th time in Ullegue's career she's thrown 7.0 IP of shutout ball.
- Ullegue has 322 career strikeouts and is only the sixth SJSU pitcher to go over 300 strikeouts in her career.
- SJSU's walk-off win against Pacific (3/22) is their third true walk-off win of the season (URI on 3/12, UNR on 3/17). The Spartans also have two run rule walk-off's this season against Saint Mary's (2/25) and Sac State (2/25) with both ending in five innings.
- The Spartans stole eight bases in their win against Pacific (3/22). The eight stolen bases tied an SJSU record (2/26/05, Delaware) and the Spartans are second in the MW with 43 on the season.
- Jessica Giacoma hit .455 during the four games over four games last week including two doubles, one triple, five hits, four runs scored, one RBI and one stolen base.
