LAS VEGAS – The No. 10 seed San José State Spartans will open the Mountain West Conference Tournament on Sunday afternoon in a matchup with No. 7 seed Air Force. Tip-off is scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. start at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV. SJSU students can get into the game for free by going to the SJSU table at the Thomas & Mack Arena and showing their student ID before halftime.

  • The Spartans are coming off two straight wins over Fresno State and Utah State to close out the regular season
  • Sabina Ma has scored at least 20 points in three straight games, with her last appearance being a career-high 24 points in the season finale against Utah State, earning her Mountain West Freshman of the Week honors
  • Jada Holland continues to be the best in the league at taking the ball away, averaging 2.5 per game during league play and recording at least one steal in 27 straight games
  • The Spartans are looking to win their fifth Mountain West Tournament game since joining the conference in 2013


VS. AIR FORCE

  • This is the third meeting between the two teams, with Air Force winning both, 77-64 on Jan. 5 in San Jose and 77-70 on Jan. 16 at the Air Force Academy
  • The Falcons (9.4) and the Spartans (9.3) rank one and two in the Mountain West in steals per game during league play
  • Marisa Davis-Jones put up a combined 44 points and 15 rebounds in the two meetings against Air Force
  • The Spartans have an edge on the offensive glass, pulling down 11 per game during league play, while the Falcons are ninth in the conference, averaging 8.7
