FULLERTON, Calif. – Ashley Rico hit a three-run home run, Jessica Giacoma hit a two-run shot and Reina Zermeno hit her first career home run to lead San José State (7-12) in an 11-6 win over Cal Poly (7-8) and a 6-0 loss to Seattle (14-5) Sunday to conclude the Judi Garman Classic.
Cal Poly
- The Spartans were down 5-0, but had an eight run fourth inning punctuated by Rico's home run to put SJSU out front for good
- The three home runs were a single-game season high for the Spartans
- It was Rico's and Giacoma's first home runs of the season
- Zermeno went 2-for-4 with two runs plus the RBI
- Aubrie Thomas ended up 2-for-4 with a run scored
- Alyssa Graham hit a two run single and had two hits plus a run scored as well
- Ahmiya Noriega hit a RBI single and scored a run
- Jenessa Ullegue went 1-for-3 with a run scored
- Lacie Ham pitched 5.0 IP while letting in only one run and struck out five on the way to her third win of the season
Seattle
- Ham pitched 4.0 IP with four strikeouts
- Rico, Ullegue, Thomas and Makenzie Hutchinson all went 1-for-3
- Rico had the lone extra base hit for the Spartans with a double
- Hutchinson had five putouts at catcher
