SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (7-12, 0-0 MW) hosts the SVC Classic II from Spartan Softball Stadium starting on Friday and going through Sunday this weekend. The Spartans play UC Davis (10-6, 0-0 Big West) and Rhode Island (2-8, 0-0 A10) on Friday, CSUN (6-12, 0-0 Big West) and Rhode Island on Saturday and Rhode Island again on Sunday. Only games that SJSU will be playing in will be aired on Mountain West Network.

  • The Spartans come off an 11-6 win over Cal Poly (3/5) where they hit three home runs. Ashley Rico and Jessica Giacoma each had their first home runs of the season. Reina Zermeno hit her first career home run.
  • Spartans went 4-1 during SVC Classic I.
  • During the SVC Classic I, Ahmiya Noriega hit .474 with nine hits, two doubles, two triples, an inside the park grand slam home run and seven RBIs. She also ended both of last Saturday's games with run rules thanks to her first career home run (the grand slam) and a two RBI triple.
  • Alyssa Graham also had a great SVC Classic I hitting .500 in the five games of the tournament with two doubles, one triple, one home run, three RBIs, eight hits, seven runs scored and a slugging percentage of .938.
  • Jenessa Ullegue on 2/19 against Saint Mary's threw a 7.0 IP one-hitter with nine strikeouts and no runs scored in a 5-0 win. It was Ullegue's second career 7.0 IP one-hitter and she only walked one on the night. It was also the ninth time in Ullegue's career she's thrown 7.0 IP of shutout ball.
  • Lacie Ham has been the go to pitcher for the Spartans. In her last 59.0 IP, Ham has 54 strikeouts while only giving up 30 runs. She leads the Spartans with 57 strikeouts.
  • Utility player Aubrie Thomas has longstanding ties with SJSU. Her father Shawn played defensive back for the Spartans football team and her mother Sarah was a catcher on the softball team. Thomas hit her first career home run, a solo shot, against Northern Colorado (2/24).
