SAN JOSE, Calif. – Olaya Bances Iglesias sealed the final point on Friday as San José State (8-10, 3-4 MW) knocked off New Mexico (10-6, 3-4 MW) 4-2 in their return home after three weeks on the road.
- Rozalina Youseva and Irena Muradyan continued to set the tone in doubles with a 6-2 win in the No. 2 match.
- Carolina Millan and Alba Pedrero Gallindo clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win in the No. 1 match.
- Millan followed up the doubles win with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-sets win in the No. 1 singles position to extend the Spartans' lead to 2-0.
- The Lobos were able to level the score at 2-2 before Youseva put the Spartans one point away with a 6-0, 7-5 win in the No. 4 match.
- Muradyan was able to extend her No. 3 match with a 7-6 (7-4) tiebreak win in the second set before going unfinished.
- Iglesias was able to lock up the win for SJSU in the No. 6 match. She lost the first set 7-6 in a tiebreak but rallied for 6-1, 6-1 wins in sets two and three to earn the win.
UP NEXT: The Spartans take on Air Force on Saturday at 2 p.m. in their final home match of the season. They will celebrate their three seniors, Gallindo, Lara Marco Mas, and Raquel Villan Pereira, following the match.
