SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif.—Right-handed pitcher Aaron Eden tossed 4.0 innings, allowing only one run on four hits while striking out two to lead the San José State baseball team (18-15, 11-4 Mountain West) in a 6-5 defeat to Cal Poly (13-21, 7-8 Big West) on Tuesday night at Baggett Stadium. Dalton Bowling hit a solo home run and Robert Hamchuk hit a two-run shot in the loss.

  • Bowling's home run was his team-leading eighth of the season while Hamchuk hit his third home run of the year.
  • Jack Colette went 2-for-5 and hit a two-run single in the top of the ninth inning to tie the game before Cal Poly walked it off in the bottom of the inning.
  • Hunter Dorraugh went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.
  • Jeriah Lewis went 2-for-3 with a walk and led the Spartans with two runs scored.
  • Theo Hardy collected two hits.
  • RHP Cade Van Allen pitched 2.0 shutout innings, giving up only one hit while striking out three.

UP NEXT: The Spartans will travel to Fresno, Calif. for four games against the Fresno State Bulldogs from April 21-23. The Spartans are officially listed as the home team on Friday as the game will serve as the makeup contest from a postponed game on March 5. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 2 p.m. and complete the series finale on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. All four games will be streamed on the Mountain West Network
