RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif.—Three Spartans finished in the top-10, led by Kajsa Arwefjäll who was second at 5-under par, as the 10th-ranked San José State women's golf team finished second at 6-under 858 at the 2023 Mountain West Championship played at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

- Arwefjäll shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to finish at 211 for the tournament. She made four birdies on the day and finished the three rounds leading the field in par-4 scoring at -5.
- This is her third top-10 finish in as many years as she tied for third last year and tied for ninth in 2021.
- Antonia Malate tied for sixth at 3-under 213 after she shot a 73 on Thursday. She had a clean card through 13 holes with two birdies and 11 pars before finishing bogey-par-double bogey-par-par.
- This is her best finish at the championship in four tries (2020 cancelled). Malate tied for seventh at the 2021 championship.
- Lucia Lopez Ortega tied for ninth at 2-under 214 after shooting a 2-under 70. She made three birdies and 14 pars during her round.
- Louisa Carlbom tied for 17th at 4-over 220, shooting a 76 in the final round. She and Malate led the team in birdies made with 13 each.
- Rebecca Gyllner finished 32nd and shot a 76 on Thursday.
- San José State shot a 1-over 289 in the final round to finish five shots behind New Mexico.
- The Spartans led the field in birdies made with 54 and in par-4 scoring at -8.

UP NEXT – The Spartans await word about their selection to the 2023 NCAA Championships. The selection show will be broadcast on Wednesday, April 26, on the GOLF Channel at 10 a.m. PT. This year's format for regionals, taking play May 8-10, has changed from years past. There are now six regional sites that will have 12 teams and six individuals. The top five teams and the low individual (not on an advancing team) from each regional will advance to the national championships to be played May 19-24 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
