SAN JOSE, Calif. - San José State softball (19-23, 7-9 MW) heads to UNLV (19-23, 5-9 MW) to open a three-game series starting on Friday at 6:00 p.m. from Eller Media Stadium with all games being shown on the Mountain West Network.

  • Jenessa Ullegue pitched 16.0 IP last week including tying a career-best 9.0 IP against BSU (4/15) while striking out 18 and posting a 1.31 ERA.
  • Ullegue has 355 career strikeouts and is only the sixth SJSU pitcher to go over 300 strikeouts in her career. Corina Lilly is fifth on the all-time list with 376 career strikeouts.
  • Ullegue has gone 7.0 IP six times this season including pitching two one-hitters where both hits happened in the seventh inning.
  • Lacie Ham (92) and Ullegue (89) are ranked third and fourth in the Mountain West in strikeouts. Ullegue is tied for tops in the MW with 10 wins and has struck out 30 by looking which is good for second in the MW. Ullegue also has a .231 batting average against which is good for sixth best in the MW.
  • The Spartans swept Fresno St. in a doubleheader on 4/12 and it is their first regular season sweep over the Bulldogs since joining the Mountain West Conference.
  • Freshman Ahmiya Noriega went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a triple and two runs scored against FS (4/12 in a doubleheader) in her first games back since April 1st. She is third in the conference with three triples this season. Noriega hit .455 with three doubles and one triple in the four games last week.
  • Alyssa Graham hit two home runs against Colorado State (4/6-8) including a game changing grand slam (has two grand slams this season) and has eight home runs to lead the Spartans. The SJSU record is 13 in a season by Brittany McConnell in 2008. Graham is seventh in the MW with eight home runs this season and ninth with a .641 slugging pct.
  • Freshman Reina Zermeno hit .615 with a slugging percentage of 1.077 and had a home run, eight hits, five runs scored, four RBIs, three doubles, plus stole a pair of bases and had 10 putouts at UNM (3/24-26).
  • Zermeno has only struck out seven times this season (111 at-bats) which is fifth best in the Mountain West.
