STANFORD, Calif.— Jacob Lopez won the Men's Shot Put to lead San José State's throwers in the Shot Put in the second day of the Payton Jordan Invitational.

  • Lopez's top mark of 16.15m (53'0") netted him his first event win of the season
  • Two of Lopez's six throws would have won the event. His second-best mark was 16.02m (52'6.75")
  • Pablo Villasenor took second place in the Men's Shot Put with a best throw of 15.63m (51'3.5")
  • Ty Seligman and Bryson Smith placed fourth and fifth with top marks of 14.61m (47'11.25") and 14.57m (47'9.75") respectively
  • The Spartans only entered their men's throwers into the Payton Jordan Invitational and only entered into two events: the Men's Shot Put and Men's Hammer Throw. They won both, with Smith taking the Hammer Throw on Friday

UP NEXT: The throwers will rejoin their Spartan teammates at the Fresno State Invitational held April 28 and 29.
