Spartans Beat UNLV 7-3 To Take Regular Season Series

LAS VEGAS – Karizma Bergesen hit her first home run of the season and had three RBIsto lead San José State (21-24, 9-10 MW) in a 7-3 win at UNLV (20-25, 6-11 MW) in the final game of a three-game road series Sunday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium.
 
The Spartans scored four runs with two outs in the win and in each game of the series the Spartans had an inning where they scored four runs. This was the Spartans second road Mountain West series win and fourth one overall this season.

  • Bergesen ended the day going 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored
  • Bergesen hit .667 (6-for-9) with a home run, a double, five RBIs, two runs scored and posted a 1.111 slugging pct. with a .700 on-base pct. and added 10 putouts over the three-game series
  • Makenzie Hutchinson had a two-run double and has five doubles this season
  • Hutchinson also scored her eighth run of the season
  • Ahmiya Noriega finished the day 2-for-4 with an RBI single
  • Lacie Ham started the game and went 3.0 IP with one strikeout
  • Jenessa Ullegue came in relief and pitched the final four innings for her MW leading 12th win of the season
  • Ullegue let in no runs and struck out three
  • Over the series, Ullegue went 11.0 IP while having zero runs against her, striking out nine and earning two wins
  • UNLV hit .179 against Ullegue over the weekend
  • Adrianna Noriega, Reina Zermeno and Ashley Rico all scored a run
  • Ad. Noriega hit .417 with five hits and two RBIs in the series
  • Alyssa Graham had a hit
  • Arianna Miranda scored a run
  • The Spartans are now 16-4 when leading after four innings this season
