LAS VEGAS – Olaya Bances Iglesias sealed the win for San José State (10-12, 4-6 MW) as they moved past No. 9 seed New Mexico (10-10, 3-7 MW) 4-3 to advance in the Mountain West Tournament.
- Iglesias won 6-4, 6-7 (7-9), 6-2 in the only three-set match of the day to give the Spartans the win.
- SJSU captured the doubles point after Alba Pedrero Galindo and Carolina Millan took the No. 1 match 6-3, followed by a 6-4 win from Irena Muradyan and Rozalina Youseva in the No. 2 match.
- The Lobos were able to go up 2-1 after a pair of singles wins before Galindo even the match at 2-2 with a 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 win in the No. 2 match.
- New Mexico re-gained the lead before Muradyan came away with a clutch 7-5, 7-5 win in the No. 3 slot to tie it at 3-3.
- Iglesias won the first set 6-4 before New Mexico forced a third set after a tiebreak in the second.
- The sophomore was able to take over in the final set to win 6-2 and send the Spartans on to the second round.
