SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State baseball team heads to Colorado this weekend for a three-game series against Air Force. The action gets underway with the first pitch of game one at 3 p.m. MT/2 p.m. PT on Friday, April 28. All three games will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network

PREVIOUS SERIES

  • The Spartans played four games at Fresno State from April 21-23, going 2-2 against the Bulldogs.
  • Hunter Dorraugh led the Spartans offensively in the series, hitting 8-for-15 (.583) with two home runs, two doubles, four runs scored, two walks and a slugging percentage of 1.067.
  • RHP Jonathan Clark had a superb start on Friday night, tossing 6.2 innings, allowing only one run on seven hits while striking out six.
  • LHP Micky Thompson also produced a quality outing in his start on Saturday, pitching into the eighth inning. He totaled 7.1 innings and surrendered three runs on four hits while striking out five.
  • LHP Jack White shined out of the bullpen, recording five strikeouts in 3.0 innings without giving up a hit.

WHERE THE SPARTANS RANK IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST 

  • The Spartans rank second in the Mountain West Conference in opposing batting average. Opponents are hitting only .259 against the Spartans.
  • Thompson ranks fifth in ERA at 3.33.
  • Clark is sixth in strikeouts with 51.
  • White is tied for first in wins with five.
  • Matt Spear ranks second in runners caught stealing with 16.
  • Four Spartans rank in the top 10 in doubles. Dorraugh is third with 15, Charles McAdoo and Jack Colette are tied for fifth with 13 each and Dalton Bowling is tied for seventh with 12. 
  • Bowling is fourth in both home runs and RBIs with eight and 38 respectively.
  • Theo Hardy is 10th in batting average at .333.
  • Colette and Jeriah Lewis are tied for second in stolen bases with nine each.
  • Dorraugh and Hardy are tied for second in walks with 25 each. Colette is seventh in walks with 23.
  • Four Spartans have been named the Mountain West Player of the Week in 2023: Jack Colette (April 10), Charles McAdoo (April 3), Robert Hamchuk (March 13) and Hunter Dorraugh (Feb. 20).

VS. AIR FORCE

  • The Air Force Falcons are 18-24 this season and 11-10 in the conference.
  • The Falcons are coming off a series win over New Mexico on the weekend as they took two out of three against the Lobos.
  • The Spartans are 19-25 all-time in series against the Falcons.
  • The Spartans went 1-2 against the Falcons when the two sides matched up at Excite Ballpark in March.
  • Robert Hamchuk hit .438 in the series, going 7-for-16 at the plate with a double and an RBI.
  • White and RHP Keaton Chase have each pitched 3.0 scoreless innings of relief against Air Force this season.
