DAY ONE RESULTS
FRESNO, Calif.— Fabio Hessling won the Men's Hammer Throw to lead San José State in the first day of competition at the Fresno State Invitational.
- Hessling earned the fourth-best Men's Hammer Throw record in school history with his distance of 65.32m (214'3"). The distance was also a Warmerdam Field facility record, beating out Evan Stork of Sacramento St.'s previous record of 64.17m (210'6")
- Hessling won one of only two events on the day, the Men's and Women's Hammer Throw.
- Teammate Bryson Smith placed second in the same event with a mark of 62.95m (206'6").
- Any of Hessling's or Smith's throws in the event would have been good for at least second place.
- This is now Hessling's second first place finish on the season in the Men's Hammer Throw. He also took first place at the Cal Opener on March 4.
UP NEXT: The Spartans face a full slate of events on the second day of the Fresno State Invitational on Saturday, April 29.
