SAN JOSE, Calif.—Coming off a series win over Nevada, the San José State baseball team heads to Albuquerque, N.M. for a three-game conference series starting Thursday at 6 p.m. MT/5 p.m. PT. The Spartans will play the New Mexico Lobos with all three games being streamed on the Mountain West Network.
PREVIOUS SERIES
- The Spartans took two out of three games against the Nevada Wolf Pack, winning 7-6 on Saturday and 13-12 on Sunday.
- Charles McAdoo led the Spartans offensively in the series, going 6-for-14 (.429) at the plate with three doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored. In recognition of his excellence, the Spartans' second baseman was named the Mountain West Player of the Week.
- Hunter Dorraugh also had an impressive showing, hitting 4-for-11 with four RBIs, a home run and a double.
- Right-handed pitcher Darren Jansen earned the save in both wins.
- RHP Keaton Chase earned his second win of the season in Saturday's game as he tossed 2.0 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only two hits while striking out three.
- LHP Jesse Gutierrez earned his first career win on Sunday. The freshman threw 3.0 innings of relief, allowing only one run on two hits while striking out four.
WHERE THE SPARTANS RANK IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST
- The Spartans rank first in the Mountain West conference in opposing batting average (.255).
- The Spartans have given up only 22 home runs, the fewest home runs allowed in the conference.
- The Spartans lead the Mountain West in throwing out base runners as Matt Spear and Jake Maroney have combined to throw out 13 attempted base stealers. Spear leads the conference in CSB's with 11.
- Three Spartans rank in the top five in doubles. Charles McAdoo is second with 12 and Hunter Dorraugh and Charles McAdoo are tied for fourth with 10 each.
- Dalton Bowling is sixth in RBIs with 25 and 10th in slugging percentage (.556).
- Theo Hardy is seventh in walks with 17.
- Jack Colette is fifth in stolen bases with six.
- Colette is one of only six players in the conference to have a perfect fielding percentage.
- Two Spartans rank in the top 10 in ERA. LHP Micky Thompson is fourth (3.58) and RHP Jonathan Clark is ninth (4.46).
- Clark is eighth in the conference in strikeouts with 38.
VS. NEW MEXICO
- The New Mexico Lobos are 15-11 this season.
- They were swept on the weekend by San Diego State after upsetting No. 22 Texas Tech on March 28.
- The Spartans are 15-22-1 in series against the Lobos all time.
- The Spartans won four of six games against New Mexico in 2022, taking two out of three games in each series.
- In six games against the Lobos, McAdoo went 13-for-27 (.481) with five doubles and a home run.
- Robert Hamchuk had at least two hits in every game as he hit 14-for-27 (.519) with five doubles, including two games in which he had two doubles.
