ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—
Left-handed pitcher Micky Thompson tossed 8.0 innings, allowing only two earned runs on seven hits while striking out six to lead the San José State baseball team (14-11, 7-4 Mountain West) in an 8-3 win over New Mexico (16-12, 6-7 Mountain West) on Friday afternoon at Santa Ana Star Field. 

  • Thompson became the first Spartans' pitcher this season to complete eight innings and it was his first time tossing eight innings in his career.
  • Charles McAdoo went 2-for-2 with three walks and extended his hit streak to 14 games.
  • Jack Colette and Theo Hardy each went 3-for-5 with a double.
  • Jeriah Lewis went 2-for-5 and for the second straight game, registered two RBIs.
  • Matt Spear went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. The Spartans' catcher also recorded his 12th runner caught stealing this season which leads the Mountain West Conference.
  • Right-handed pitcher Darren Jansen pitched a scoreless inning of relief, retiring New Mexico in order in the ninth inning.
  • The Spartans scored five runs in the sixth inning as six straight hitters reached base safely.
