SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State baseball team heads to Austin, Texas this weekend for a three-game series against the Texas Longhorns. The action gets underway at 6:30 p.m. CT/4:30 p.m. PT at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Friday afternoon. All three games of the series can be viewed on the Longhorn Network

PREVIOUS SERIES

  • The Spartans took down the USF Dons on Tuesday, May 9, winning 12-3 in San Francisco.
  • Nathan Cadena had a career day at the plate in the victory, going 4-for-4 which included a solo home run and four RBIs.
  • Jack Colette also had an impressive showing, registering three hits with a double and three RBIs.
  • Left-handed pitcher Ethan Ross tossed 5.0 innings, allowing only one run on one hit while striking out eight to earn his second win of the season.
  • Hunter Dorraugh hit his seventh home run of the season, a solo shot in the ninth inning.

WHERE THE SPARTANS RANK IN THE MOUNTAIN WEST

  • The Spartans rank third in the Mountain West Conference in batting average (.280) and second in opposing batting average (.264).
  • The Spartans rank second in ERA at 5.44.
  • LHP Micky Thompson is fifth in the conference in ERA at 3.99 and RHP Jonathan Clark is ninth at 5.01.
  • Clark is fifth in strikeouts with 58.
  • LHP Jack White is tied for first in wins with six.
  • Three Spartans rank in the top 10 in batting average: Dorraugh is seventh (.345), Charles McAdoo is ninth (.339) and Theo Hardy is 10th (.333).
  • Three Spartans rank in the top 10 in doubles: Dorraugh is fourth with 17, Colette is sixth with 16 and Dalton Bowling is tied for sixth with 15.
  • Matt Spear is tied for the conference lead in caught stealing with 19.
  • Colette is tied for the conference lead in triples with five and Hardy is tied for second with four.
  • Bowling is tied for fifth in home runs with nine and is tied for sixth in RBIs with 42.
  • Dorraugh is ninth in slugging at .557.
  • Dorraugh is tied for second in walks with 30, Hardy is tied for sixth with 29, McAdoo is ninth with 34 and Colette is 10th with 33.
  • Colette and Jeriah Lewis are tied for fourth in stolen bases with nine each.
  • Dorraugh, Hardy and McAdoo rank fourth, seventh and eighth in on-base percentage with respective OBP's of .452, .434 and .421.
  • Five Spartans have received weekly honors: Jack White (May 8), Jack Colette (April 10), Charles McAdoo (April 3), Robert Hamchuk (March 13) and Hunter Dorraugh (Feb. 20).

VS. TEXAS

  • The Texas Longhorns are 33-27 this season and 12-9 in the Big 12.
  • The Longhorns have won three in a row, winning the final two games of the series from May 5-7 against Kansas and taking down UT Arlington, 10-5,  on Tuesday, May 9.
  • The Spartans have never faced Texas before, this weekend's series will be the first meeting between the two programs in history.
