AUSTIN, Texas—Robert Hamchuk went 3-for-8 with two doubles and three RBIs across two games to lead the San José State baseball team (24-23, 15-11 Mountain West) in a 6-4 win and a 24-3 loss against Texas (34-18, 12-9 Big 12) on Friday at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
GAME ONE
- The Spartans trailed 4-2 entering the top of the eighth inning before scoring three runs in the top of the eighth and one run in the top of the ninth.
- Right-handed pitcher Jonathan Clark tossed 5.0 innings, allowing only three runs on four hits while striking out seven.
- RHP Cade Van Allen pitched a scoreless frame to earn the win.
- LHP Jack White picked up the save by pitching 2.0 scoreless innings to close out the game.
- Dalton Bowling hit his team-leading 10th home run of the season, a solo shot in the fifth inning.
- Bowling, Hamchuk and Matt Spear all had two hits respectively.
- Hamchuk led the Spartans with two RBIs and Spear led the Spartans with two runs scored.
- Jack Colette produced an RBI double in the eighth inning, his 17th double of the season which ties him with Hunter Dorraugh for the most doubles on the team.
GAME TWO
- Charles McAdoo led the Spartans with two hits.
- Hamchuk produced an RBI double.
- RHP Aaron Eden recorded four strikeouts in 3.1 innings of relief.
