FORT COLLINS, Colo. - San José State softball (26-28, 11-11 MW) plays BYU (32-16, 11-4 WCC) at 12:00 p.m. (PT) on Thursday in the first game of the National Invitational Softball Championship (NISC) in Fort Collins, Colo. from Red Rocks Field at the Triple Crown Sports facility and it can be seen on YouTube. It's a double-elimination tournament that consists of two four-team pods and all games will be played at one of two fields at the Triple Crown Sport facility.

  • The Spartans finished second in the MW Championship tournament in the first MW Championship held since 2006.
  • SJSU's 26 total wins and 11 conference wins are both the most for SJSU since 2019.
  • Jenessa Ullegue batted .333 in the MW tournament with a home run, a double and tied a career-high with four RBIs while striking out 15 in 20.2 IP.
  • Ullegue pitched two 7.0 IP complete games in the MW tournament and has 388 career strikeouts which ties tying Katelyn Linford for fourth on the SJSU all-time list
  • Ullegue also pitched in every game (five) of the MW tournament and her 16 wins this season leads the Mountain West and ties her career best
  • Ullegue has 122 strikeouts this season which is good for fourth in the conference. Ullegue went over 100 strikeouts in a season for the third time in her career.
  • Ullegue has gone 7.0 IP or more nine times this season including pitching two one-hitters where both hits happened in the seventh inning.
  • Karizma Bergesen hit .667 (6-for-9) with a home run, a double, five RBIs, two runs scored and posted a 1.111 slugging pct. with a .700 on-base pct. and added 10 putouts over the three-game series against UNLV (4/21-23).
  • The Spartans have let up only 19 home runs this season which is good for best in the Mountain West.
  • Freshman Ahmiya Noriega went 4-for-6 with two doubles, a triple and two runs scored against FS (4/12 in a doubleheader) in her first games back since April 1st. She is sixth in the conference with three triples this season. 
  • Alyssa Graham hit two home runs against Colorado State (4/6-8) including a game changing grand slam (has two grand slams this season) and has eight home runs to lead the Spartans. The SJSU record is 13 in a season by Brittany McConnell in 2008. 
  • Freshman Reina Zermeno has only struck out 11 times (134 at-bats) this season which is good for second best in the MW for those with over 100 at-bats.
