MORGAN HILL, Calif. – Caleb Shetler closed out his time at the NCAA Morgan Hill Invitational on Wednesday, shooting a final-round 74 (+2) for the second day in a row.
- Shetler cruised on his front nine, making par on all nine holes while hitting eight of the nine greens.
- He was able to make a birdie on the par-5 14th hole, along with five more pars on the back nine.
- Shetler totaled 36 pars over the three-day event.
- He was able to jump over 20 positions following his first round to the end of the tournament.
Mississippi State captured the regional title after a final-round 289 (+1). Riley Lewis (Loyola Marymount) won a three-hole playoff over Maximilian Steinlechner (NC State) to earn the individual spot in the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Ariz.
- The Bulldogs were the only team to finish under par for the tournament with an 863 (-1).
- Lewis birdied holes 17 and 18 to force the playoff, where he birdied the third sudden-death hole to earn the individual honor.
- Luke Clanton (Florida State) was the low medalist of the regional after a three-day total of 210 (-6).
- BYU (+4), Florida State (+7), Baylor (+9) and Pepperdine (+11) were the other four teams to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
