Hutchinson Hits Two Home Runs, SJSU Run Rules CSUN in NISC

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Makenzie Hutchinson hit a grand slam home run and a solo shot to leadSan José State (27-29, 11-11 MW) in a 13-5 six innings run rule win over CSUN (28-24, 19-8 Big West) from Horsetooth Field at the Triple Crown Sports facility in the NISC on Friday. SJSU will play again on Friday at 2:00 p.m. (PT) against the loser of Maryland and BYU in an elimination game.
 
The Spartans were down 5-0 eariy and then tied a single-inning season-high with nine runs across in the fifth inning to take the lead they wouldn't relinquish. SJSU hit three home runs in the fifth inning alone.

  • Hutchinson's five RBIs are a career-high and it's the first time she's ever hit two home runs in the same game
  • Hutchinson has three home runs this season
  • Hutchinson ended the day 2-for-3 with two runs scored with the five RBIs
  • Adrianna Noriega and Aubrie Thomas each hit two-run home runs for the Spartans
  • Ad. Noriega has three home runs on the season and Thomas has two
  • Karizma Bergesen went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs
  • Ahmiya Noriega was 2-for-3 with her seventh double of the season and two runs scored
  • Ashley Rico had two RBIs and scored a run
  • Lacie Ham pitched 5.0 IP in relief for her eighth win of the season while striking out four and letting in only one run
  • Taylor Squires went 1-for-2 with a run scored
  • Every starter scored a run for the Spartans besides Bergesen who was pinch run for following her double
  • The four home runs are a single-game season-high for the Spartans
  • It's the sixth time this season the Spartans have had a multi-home run game
  • The Spartans have four run rule wins this season
