SAN JOSE, Calif.—Right-handed pitcher Aaron Eden tossed 5.0 innings, allowing only one run on four hits to lead the San José State baseball team (27-24, 18-11 Mountain West) in a 6-1 win over Nevada (20-33, 10-20 Mountain West) on Saturday afternoon at Excite Ballpark. With the victory, the Spartans earned the Mountain West regular-season title and clinched the number one seed in the Mountain West Championship which will take place May 25-28 at Pete Beiden Field at Bob Bennett Stadium in Fresno, Calif.
- Robert Hamchuk, Theo Hardy and Charles McAdoo all had two hits.
- Hamchuk hit a solo home run in the first inning.
- RHP Cade Van Allen and RHP Darren Jansen combined to throw 4.0 scoreless innings of relief.
- The Spartans hit three straight doubles in the third inning and scored five runs in the frame.
- 14 Spartans were recognized during a pre-game ceremony for Senior Day: Dalton Bowling, Jonathan Clark, Jack Colette, Keaton Chase, Eden, Trevor Ernt, Jackson Forbes, Hamchuk, Jansen, James Shimashita, Nik Trapani and Jack White. Team managers, Ryan Belluomini and Kenneth Buikema, were also recognized.
UP NEXT: The Spartans will head to Fresno for the Mountain West Championship where they will face Fresno State in the first game. First pitch against the Bulldogs is scheduled for May 25 at 6 p.m. PT. Every game of the tournament can be viewed on the Mountain West Network.
