Spartans Shutout Utah State in First of Three This Weekend, 2-0

SAN JOSE, Calif.Jenessa Ullegue struck out six and Makenzie Hutchinson hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to lead San José State (22-25, 10-10 MW) in a 2-0 win against Utah State (17-25, 8-12 MW) in the first of a three-game series at Spartan Softball Stadium this weekend.

  • Ullegue threw her third 7.0 IP shutout of the season and it was also Ullegue's sixth time throwing 7.0 IP or more this season
  • Ullegue only threw one walk in the win
  • Ullegue has 370 career strikeouts and is six behind Corina Lilly for fifth in SJSU history
  • Ullegue has gone over 100 strikeouts in a season for the third time in her career
  • Hutchinson went 1-for-2 with her sixth double of the season
  • Ahmiya Noriega had the other hit for the Spartans and walked twice
  • Aubrie Thomas and Adrianna Noriega each scored runs 
  • The Spartans earned eight walks
