SAN JOSE, Calif.—The San José State baseball team will take on the USF Dons at Benedetti Diamond in San Francisco on Tuesday, May 9. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the game can be viewed on the WCC Network.

PREVIOUS SERIES

  • The Spartans took two out of three games in a home series against the San Diego State Aztecs.
  • Left-handed pitcher Jack White dominated in the second game of the series, pitching a complete-game shutout in a 4-0 Spartans' win. He allowed only three hits while striking out a career-high seven and was recognized as the Mountain West Pitcher of the Week for his performance.
  • In Sunday's 7-2 victory for the Spartans, right-handed pitcher Darren Jansen earned the win as he tossed 4.0 scoreless innings of relief, allowing only two hits while striking out five.
  • Matt Spear led the Spartans offensively in the three games, hitting .429 (3-for-7) which included a double and two walks.
  • Dalton Bowling and Theo Hardy each hit a home run in the series finale.

  • The Spartans rank third in the Mountain West Conference in batting average (.280) and second in opposing batting average (.266).
  • The Spartans rank third in ERA at 5.50.
  • LHP Micky Thompson is fifth in the conference in ERA at 4.00 and RHP Jonathan Clark is ninth at 5.01.
  • Clark is fifth in strikeouts with 58.
  • White is tied for first in wins with six.
  • Three Spartans rank in the top 10 in batting average: Hunter Dorraugh is seventh (.343), Charles McAdoo is ninth (.339) and Hardy is 10th (.333).
  • Three Spartans rank in the top 10 in doubles: Dorraugh is fourth with 17 and Jack Colette and Bowling are tied for fifth with 15 each.
  • Spear is tied for the conference lead in caught stealing with 19.
  • Colette is tied for the conference lead in triples with five and Hardy is tied for second with four.
  • Bowling is tied for fifth in home runs with nine and is tied for sixth in RBIs with 42.
  • Dorraugh is 10th in slugging at .550.
  • Dorraugh and Hardy are tied for fifth in walks with 28 while Colette is eighth with 26.
  • Colette and Jeriah Lewis are tied for fourth in stolen bases with nine each.
  • Dorraugh, Hardy and McAdoo rank sixth, seventh and eighth in on-base percentage with respective OBP's of .448, .430 and .416.
  • Five Spartans have received weekly honors: Jack White (May 8), Jack Colette (April 10), Charles McAdoo (April 3), Robert Hamchuk (March 13) and Hunter Dorraugh (Feb. 20).

VS. USF

  • The Spartans are 101-73-1 all-time in series against USF.
  • The USF Dons are 16-26 this season and 7-17 in the West Coast Conference.
  • On March 7, 2023, the Spartans defeated the Dons at Excite Ballpark, 23-2.
    • LHP Ethan Ross tossed 5.0 innings as the starter and did not allow an earned run.
    • Bowling and Hamchuk each had three hits and Lewis led the Spartans with four RBIs and four runs.
